The Jim Greene Memorial Scholarship was established in January 2012 following the passing of our dad, Jim Greene.  He was a local minister, Radio Personality, and Public Address Announcer at Avery County High School…and these were just a few of the hats that he wore during his life.

Dad had a commitment to God, to praise Him and make Him known to the local community, and also had a great love for sports, especially watching the athletes at the High School as they competed and represented the community.  It was with this in mind that we founded, through the Avery County Schools Foundation, the Jim Greene Memorial Scholarship that goes to a student who is in need as they continue their education beyond High School.

We have been privileged to give out scholarships totaling more than $10,000, to local students thanks to donations from this community in memory of our dad, and we would like to thank you for that, but we also want to be able to continue this in the years to come.  We have been blessed to be able to give multiple scholarships over the past couple of years, and we would love to see this grow as well.

Again Thank you for your donations and commitment to continuing dad’s legacy here in the High Country. If you would like to donate:
