With the new year upon us we say goodbye to 2012 and hello to 2013. 2012 brought with it heartache and worry, but also some new things we can use to move forward.
As is the case with each year that passes, many pass away that meant a lot to us, but with it comes new life thru the birth of new little ones. Although it hurts to say goodbye to those we love, we are able to give that love to others as we remember the love we had for those who have gone on.
It resembles the turning of the calendar as we see one year end and another come in. The year enters fresh, nothing to hold you back. A new life. A brand new start.
It also becomes an example of the Christian life. We come in with troubles and trials, no reason for hope, but we find a fresh, new start. We find that Christ has taken our sins and washed them clean. His blood has blotted out every worry, every stain, every problem that has given us grief, and every sin that has separated us from the promise that God has made to us.
We are now given hope through the promise that was made for us on the cross. A promise that we celebrated the beginning of on Christmas Day with the birth of Christ and the celebration of a believer coming home.
We can rejoice in the knowledge that Christ came to save us from our sins and to give us life. Life that we could not earn.
“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:17 NKJV)”
We can rest in the knowledge that new beginnings offer new promises that can give us hope. Happy new year!
